DANTE
AFFILIATION: CRIMSON VIPERS
Dante didn't stumble into the Crimson Vipers. He grew into them, running errands at fifteen before he was old enough to know the full weight of what he was signing up for, and proving himself useful enough that Wedge and Rico kept expanding what they trusted him with. He runs jobs, moves money, fixes engines, and handles whatever the crew needs without requiring much instruction. That trust was built run by run over years, and it holds.
He's easy company without being soft about it. There's a dry, unhurried confidence to him that fills a room without demanding it, and a stubbornness underneath the easy grin that surfaces when something actually matters to him. He won't apologize for his taste in music. He won't apologize for much, if he's being honest.
When Harper came to the Vipers with nothing left, she was grief and fury and nowhere to put either of them. Dante didn't try to fix it. He didn't treat her loss as something to move her through or past. He just stayed close, steady and unhurried, and let her take up whatever space she needed until the weight of what she'd lost became something she could carry rather than something carrying her.
It was never a single moment. It was accumulation. It was someone who saw all of it, the fear and the capability and the humor she buried underneath the hard exterior, and stayed anyway, consistently, without asking her to be less of any of it. By the time either of them thought to name what had grown between them, it had already taken root deep enough that pulling it out wasn't an option either of them considered.
He's never needed to say it out loud. It's in everything he does, and she's always known.
